The artist designed the painterly, abstract Botanica with the California poppy in mind.   She created a series of floral motifs by dipping an art blade in ink, then creating layered petals with one hand and spraying water onto the paper with the other.   The ink and water interact differently each time, capturing a unique expression of movement and fluidity in each motif.
